Carroll's DVD Review #7

I can't believe I have coverd twelve DVD's already. Have I got a treat for you all today. Well, one treat and one ... maybe not so much. So, I finally broke down and borrowed from my mother the 2007 release "Because I Said So" which stars two of my biggest Hollywood crushes ever, Mandy Moore and Piper Perabo, and a couple of veterans of the acting world, Diane Keaton and Lauren Graham of 'Gilmore Girls' fame.

BECAUSE I SAID SO

I know, it's a chick flick. I have no problem watching chick flicks. I'm always thinking I will learn something in respects of how to better learn about the female gender and relationships with them. To this point, isn't it obvious that I have learned nothing?

Diane Keaton stars as a unconditionally loving, but meddling, mother whose vain attempt to prevent her insecure youngest daughter from repeating the same mistakes that she made leads to a series of comic misunderstandings in director Michael Lehmann's affectionate family comedy.

Diane Keaton reminds me a little bit of my mother in this one. She used to be one who always tried to fix me up with someone. Girl after girl she would introduce me to, "Here Carroll, I want you to meet this lovely girl whom I think you will really like." Thanks mom. By the way, bigger thanks for finally stopping. LOL

Anyhow, I absolutely adored this movie. From start to finish, it kept me involved. Or was it Mandy and Piper? And me imagining that .... you know what, never mind what I was imagining, if you haven't seen this yet, then what are you waiting for? Go out and get it. You'll probably be able to get it for about $7.50 or less. Worth it! Don't make me tell you twice.

My rating? .... I give it 9 Stars. Why 9 and not a full monty of 10? Well, some things are better left to the imagination.

PERCY JACKSON & THE OLYMPIANS: THE LIGHTNING THEIF

Okay, so it has Pierce Brosnan in it, big whoop. And Ulma Thurman. The point is, I don't know what the point is, I just didn't get into it. Harry Potter, sure, Lord of the Rings, sure. But this? I don't know what it was, maybe my expectations were too high going in. Maybe it was Pierce, never was a huge fan. I don't know.

I'm just skipping to my rating and moving on. I give it ..... a 5 Stars. (I'm feeling generous today)

Okay, I think I might watch a movie I have already seen but haven't seen for like, years and years. I have a few on my list like that. I will try and work one in for next week. Maybe another Mandy Moore flick. Yeah, Mandy Moore. Oh, and Piper. Don't forget about the Piper. LOL

See you all next week. Until then, break out the Junior mints. They're very refreshing.
