Carroll's DVD Review #18

Hey everyone, sorry I haven't been "posting" like crazy lately, it's just since I have returned from California, things have been a mad house. You leave for a week and you come back to a new world order or something. LOL That and the fact that a lot of people around me right now have a lot of problems. Anyhow, enough of that, here is something to get your mind off of things. Some scary movies.

HOSTEL

Another Quentin Taratino special directed by Eli Roth. Starring Jay Hernandez.

In short, college students back-packing across Europe meet a Russian man who tells them about an undocumented "Hostel" filled with desperate and beautiful American women who like to "party" - if you know what I mean. But in really, it's a place where "tourists" come up missing. After being drugged, they wake up in an isolated place where they are handcuffed and bound to chairs and tables, waiting to be tortured and killed by the highest bidder. You see, wealthy people meet at this isolated place to pay thousands of American dollars to tourture and kill these "tourists". Everybody is getting rich, including the local "police" for turning the other way.

It is very gruesome. People getting sawed in half and body parts removed while they are still alive. There is also some nudity so, 18 or over for this one I guess. But if you're into people getting chopped up and hacked up and if you like being scared, this one could be a good one for you. I hear they also have a "Hostel 2" out, but I haven't seen that one. (Yet)

My rating? .... Let's go with a solid 7 and 1/2 stars.

DARKNESS FALLS

A vengeful spirit has taken the form of the Tooth Fairy to exact vengeance on the town that lynched her 150 years earlier. Her only opposition is the only child, now grown up, who has survived her before.

A 2003 release, it stars Chaney Kley, Emma Caulfield, and Lee Cormie.

I have to say, it is hard to scare me in movies anymore. Not that it ever was, however, there are some that are very entertaining and I kind of like this one.

I give it a good 7 stars.

Enjoy your weekend everyone. I'll be back next week with a couple more flicks. Take care.
