Carroll's Journal: Getting Played

If it weren't for good luck I'd have no luck at all. Wait! That's not right. Oh well, it seems to be the theme of 2014 for my life right now. Everything is coming up AWESOME!

Not that I'm bragging, but maybe I am. I don't know. The thing is, while I had some cool plans in the works for to have a great 2014, some new developments emerged and has turned 2014 into an even better year to be living in for me.

While 2013 ended with hardly a sound, the big bang of 2014 rocked my world. It kicked off with detaching myself from STGRB. (Or the other way around - doesn't matter - it's still important to note that to hang with me, you have to have morals, values, and all of that good stuff. Hey, I have a rep to protect.)

But more exciting was the fact that I got hired to write a biography. Cool stuff right there. But then something way too amazing happened on the yellow brick road while heading to the land of Oz to see the wizard. I got recognized!

No, not on the street - again! but rather, I got recognized by ... you know what, maybe recognized is the wrong word here, it's more like .... I got discovered? Yeah, let's go with that. I got discovered!

Perhaps I should start from the beginning: You see, I did a post about a year or so ago on a 70's band called "Redbone". The reason I wrote the post was because their song, "Come And Get Your Love" inspired my first published book, "Children of the Flower Power". I just wanted to share the band with everyone because of that reason and the fact that I really like that band. There was no after-thought of anything else nor did I ever suspect anything on the back end to derive from it. However, something did derive from it.

Recently, I was contacted by the bass player of that band, Pat Vegas. His brother, Lolly Vegas, was the lead singer, and sadly, passed away a few years ago. Pat Vegas, who continues to keep the "Redbone" name (and band) active, also has a Sunday radio show on KCLA 99.3 FM in Los Angeles, California called, "Chance To Have It All". Anyhow, he was informed of my post and apparently, he was impressed enough to reach out and thank me for it. In that process, he made me an offer that all songwriters pretty much dream of, to have their songs played on the radio.

Obviously, I accepted.

He was originally to play a couple of my songs last Sunday, March 9th, 2014. Unfortunately, a scheduling conflict got in the way and so he rescheduled to play my songs this coming Sunday, March 16th, 2014 on his show, which starts at 4PM and runs for an hour to 5PM (Pacific Standard Time)

To make up for the one week delay, he did give me a shout out over the air, so that was pretty cool. Anyhow, if none of you got any major plans this Sunday, March 16th, 2014 between 4PM and 5PM, perhaps you could go to the KCLA 99.3 FM website and take a listen. (I'll leave a link below.)

KCLA 99.3 FM has a broad range of audience. Not only can you hear them locally in the Los Angeles and Hollywood area, but they also can be heard on Sirius Radio Network and you can hear them through your computer.

I don't think I need to say how incredible this opportunity is for a songwriter. I can't thank Pat Vegas enough. I wouldn't know where to begin. What he is doing for me is purely amazing and wonderful.

While I am happy and excited for myself, as could well be expected, I am also happy for my producer, Brian Preston, who also plays all the instruments on the songs, and for the singer, Mark Reinhart. They are just as much a part of this as I am.

KCLA has millions of listeners. Not just in the Los Angeles / Hollywood area, but throughout the world. However, it's no secret that L.A. / Hollywood is quite the gathering place for not only film companies, but record companies as well, so this makes it even that much more exciting - to think some of them could be listening in as well. As one of my friends put it, this could be a career / life changing event for me.

I hope you all will listen in and share in the moment as Carroll Bryant goes national. It took a lot to get to this point and opportunities such as this are rare. I want to thank Pat Vegas from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity, and KCLA 99.3 FM.

You can listen in on your computer here -----> KCLA 99.3 FM

And hey, feel free to call in or leave a comment on their website / Facebook page and let them know how much you like the songs. If enough people do this, they will keep playing them. So go ahead, throw Carz a bone. LOL And let's hope this is just the beginning. Who knows what's in store for the future.

And remember, if you're out there chasing a dream, hang in there, keep pushing. Be true to yourself, others and to your art, and who knows, the next opportunity given could be given to you. You never know who is behind that page view on your blog.

Here is wishing all of you the best of success.

P.S. - Check your time zone to adjust to Pacific Standard Time. For example, 4PM - 5Pm PST is 7PM - 8PM Eastern Time for me. So make sure you factor in your time zone.
